The CRM-geothermal EU-funded project is exploring how Artificial Intelligence can support the identification and estimation of lithium in geothermal resources. Developed by INLECOM, the Lithium Estimation AI Tool combines extensive geochemical data with explainable AI to provide lithium concentration predictions and insights into the factors influencing them.
Using a Decision Tree Regression model, the tool captures complex relationships between geochemical elements and lithium concentrations. Its explainable approach also helps users understand the predictions and identify the key features driving the results.
With a model performance of 9.74 mg/L RMSE, the tool demonstrates the potential of AI to accelerate data-driven lithium exploration and contribute to a more sustainable and secure supply of this critical raw material in Europe.
